SHORT SYNOPSIS

Set in the heart of Mumbai, ZOO depicts lifestyles in and around the ghetto co-existing with the people residing in the upmarket, high-rise buildings of Mumbai. It is a story of a bunch of youngsters trapped and fighting their existence, and traces their lives through 3 parallel tracks.The film delves and inter-weaves the lives of 2 teenaged Dharavi rappers, a coffee-shop waiter who runs his drug delivery at the coffee shop, and the relationship he shares with his best friend, who he more like a younger brother to him, and an under-aged teenage girl who hasn’t left her posh South Mumbai apartment in 2 years as she lives the guilt of accidentally killing her friends.As we follow them, we realize that either they are fighting their identities, or are trying to alter their realities or have reluctantly succumbed to it.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

SHLOK SHARMA

Shlok Sharma is a Mumbai based Indian filmmaker and writer. He began his career assisting the master-storyteller Vishal Bhardwaj on The Blue Umbrella & Omkara. He then went on to assist one of the most influential Indian filmmakers, Anurag Kashyap on No Smoking, Dev D & That Girl In Yellow Boots. Shlok is also the Second Unit Director on Gangs Of Wasseypur I & II. He marked his debut as a filmmaker with the critically acclaimed Haraamkhor, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi. In 2017, along with his now business partner Navin Shetty, Shlok started his own company Fundamental Pictures. Thereon, under the same production house, he went on to direct his next feature Zoo, produced by Navin Shetty & Anurag Kashyap, which also happens to be the first Indian feature film to be shot entirely on an iPhone. Both these films are now streaming on Netflix. Two Sisters And A Husband, also produced by Navin Shetty & Anurag Kashyap, is Shlok’s third feature film. It delves into a tabooed aspect of society.
